Boulder, Colo -- As a leader in the outdoor industry, BACKPACKER Magazine speaks to over a million engaged and active readers who fuel our brand community. Each year, BACKPACKER hosts a nationally-traveling, interactive seminar called The Get Out More Tour, to unite readers and outdoor enthusiasts across the nation. The Tour provides a unique opportunity to share experiences, eliminate misconceptions, identify challenges, and offer proven solutions to enhance comfort, safety and confidence in the outdoors.
BACKPACKER’s brand ambassador, Randy Propster, dedicates over 200 days out of the year to share his passion, experience, and knowledge with outdoor enthusiasts across the country. From the most comfortable hammock to the perfect portable espresso machine, Randy is equipped with innovative technology and products from top-notch brands in the outdoor industry.
“I have a genuine passion for the outdoors that started way back as a child,” Propster said. “There were times that I would spend a night in a tent before I even realized that it was camping. Sharing your passion with thousands of consumers across the country is truly a humbling experience, knowing you’re providing information and inspiration that can actually change someone’s life.”
The 2018 Get Out More Tour is sponsored by contributing outdoor partners including Adventure Medical Kit, Backpacker’s Pantry, Cobra, Hydrapak, ENO, Farm to Feet, Fjallraven, LEKI, Motorola Outdoor, MSR, MPowered, Osprey, Popticals, Salomon, Sawyer Products, Sea to Summit, Wacaco Minipresso, and Yakima. This year BACKPACKER has partnered with Ford Motor Company to highlight the behind-the-scenes “van life” Randy adventurously lives while on Tour. The Tour itself will mobilize with a Ford Transit Connect hauling a TurtleBack Getaway trailer.
The 2018 Get Out More Tour will visit 45 outdoor retail shops and 8 music festivals across the nation. The engaging 90-minute seminar will educate and inspire participants while covering a wide range of topics including backpacking essentials, the latest in gear and apparel, survival skills, and trail-tested tips. "In general, I think it rallies the local outdoor community," said Josh Haring, one of the owners of The Mountain Air in San Luis Obispo, California. "For us, it's great to drive customers into a specialty retailer and give us a chance to shine."
The Tour’s mission is to give people the tools and inspiration to get out more and to live an adventurous life. An event like this builds community and communication among passionate hikers, backpackers, and adventurers alike. Each tour stop provides the opportunity to win from a huge outdoor gear and apparel giveaway from Tour sponsors.
