Orders UNDER $30.00 do not meet minimum order requirements for standard shipping and will be assessed a flat fee of $15 for UPS ground, $20 for UPS 2-day or $25 for UPS overnight shipping. Orders OVER $30.00 will be assessed standard freight charges applicable to the shipping method selected.

All entrees include a vitamin and mineral supplement that ensures you are getting enough of what you need during heavy exertion. Big eaters or heavy exercise can justify one pack per person/per meal. Campfood is an economical alternative to traditional ready to eat meals. Consisting of entrees, drinks and herbal supplements these all natural products will provide the optimal nutrition needed to boost your energy and enhance your experience in the backcountry.Our Packaging1. Backpacker's Pantry entree pouches feature a free standing gusseted bottom, which reduces spills and includes a zip-lock closure to keep your dinner in and dirt and insects out.2. The zip-lock closure reduces cooking time by allowing you to rehydrate your meal before cooking. Just add water, mix thoroughly and zip the top closed!3. Backpacker's Pantry and Campfood pouches are made with a multi-laminated polyester, foil and polyethylene pouch that protects your food from harmful elements.PACK IT OUT! Our foil pouches won't burn, however they make perfect mini waste bags. Please pack them out along with everything else you take out of the backcountry.Cooking dehydrated food requires the addition of water. Be certain of your water needs before you leave for your adventure. In addition to a supply of drinking and washing water you will need an average of 5-6 cups of water, per person, per day, for three complete meals. Our cooking instructions are established at an elevation of 5,344 feet in our Boulder, Colorado kitchen. Changes in elevation will affect total cooking time, as much as doubling it with every 5,000 feet gained. To help reduce cooking time and fuel consumption presoak your ingredients and keep your cooking container covered. Also consider our delicious No-Cook items that require only the addition of boiling water.What are food allergies? Food allergies are a physiological reaction caused when the immune system mistakenly identifies a normally harmless food as damaging to the body. What causes food allergies? When IgE (immunoglobulin E) antibodies react with the food, histamines are released, which cause hives, asthma, or other symptoms of allergic reaction. IgE is a type of antibody formed to protect the body from infection. What is the difference between food allergies and food intolerance?Food allergies cause an immune system response, causing symptoms that range from uncomfortable to life-threatening. Food intolerance does not effect the immune system, although some symptoms may be the same as in food allergies. What foods most often cause food allergies?milk, eggs, wheat, peanuts, soy, tree nuts, fish, shellfish.Eggs, milk, and peanuts are the most common causes of food allergies in children, with wheat, soy, and tree nuts also included. Peanuts, tree nuts, fish and shellfish commonly cause the most severe reactions. Nearly 5 percent of children have food allergies. Although most children "outgrow" their allergies, allergies to peanuts and tree nuts may be life-long. Colorado Spice CompanyOur products have no dyes, no artificial colors, and no MSG.MSG (Monosodium glutamate) is a common food additive, which has no taste by itself. MSG is designed to enhance taste by artificially stimulating taste receptors. We don't use any - anywhere. In place of refined sucrose we substitute brown sugar, honey powder and fructose. We do not use silica as an anti-caking agent We use lower salt formulations in our blends. And our products are Kosher certified. While most companies use salt, sugar and MSG as the basis of their blended formulations, at Colorado Spice we use herbs and spices! Astronaut FoodsFreeze-drying removes 98% of the food's water content. Our freeze dried products are shelf-stable for three years. Salamander Paddle GearOur Salamander gear features the best materials avaliable. Our product line is the result of years of development and feedback from customers. Most of our throw bags and travel gear feature the extremely durable Cordura fabric. Our bags feature one of three types of rope: 5/16" Kernmantle line with 1000-pound MFP polypropylene core 3/8" Kernmantle line with 2000-pound MFP polypropylene core 5/16" Kernmantle line with 2500-pound MFP Spectra core.
